Notes
This design was based on the 1975 Canada´s Cup challenger ‘Marauder’ and her successful sister ship Baltic Custom 42 ‘Tina I-Punkt’.
The hull design was optimized to take maximum advantage of the IOR-Measurement-Rule which was then current. The size and performance was optimized to fit the 2-Ton class with an I.O.R. rating of 32 feet. The fundamental concept was of a medium/light displacement performance hull with a high aspect ratio keel and rudder, designed for max lift.
The concept was a no-compromise ocean racing sloop, and her deck layout and equipment was also carefully studied to achieve this. The large cockpit and clear deck provided efficiency during racing activities, but also living space and comfort for cruising. The interior was equipped with a separate owner’s cabin aft with twin berths, while forward was the navigation and galley area. The salon provided comfortable sitting or sleeping accommodation. The forepeak was open to enable easy and effective sail storage and handling, but had the option of a more comprehensive interior for clients that were mainly cruising.
The Baltic 42 was successfully raced by clients in Europe as well as in North America.
